A clear day over the Alps. In the lower left near bottom is Lake Geneva. Above and to left of Lake Geneva is Lake Neuchâtel. Near the center right can be seen the Adriatic Sea. Where it meets the northern coast of Italy can be easily seen. Venice is near the bottom on this coast line. With Lake Geneva and the Adriatic as points of reference and using a good map of the Alps, one can identify mountain ranges and the location of some mountains. Although the map below does not include names, it does show land in the image. This map is by Lencer and used under license Creative Commons 3.O and was obtained from Wikipedia. Below the map is another image from the ISS several seconds later.
